Pantanassa
The well-preserved, beautiful church of Panaghia Pantanassa is believed to have been built at the end of the 12th century by Princess Irene, daughter of the Byzantine emperor Andronicos Paleologos. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, to Aghios Athanasios and Aghios Spyridon, and bears a striking resemblance to other churches of Pantanassa in Mystras and in Arta. A path leads from the church courtyard through thick vegetation to the Princess’ Tower. Pantanassa lies 16.3 km on the road leading from Neapoli to Molai, in a natural amphitheatre.
